Announcing the SRPD Crafty Baby Workshop…

Yes, this announcement has been long awaited and I’m so happy to finally have something to share with those of you who have emailed over the past while.
Details have officially been settled for SRPD’s first Crafty Baby Workshop!

This introductory workshop will be held March 7th and will cover baby posing, safety, reflexes, calming techniques, camera settings and assessing natural light and props. Have you ever wondered how to pose babies into those curly, back in the womb type poses or how to safely achieve those beautiful suspended shots without compromising baby’s safety or comfort. Better yet, are you working with a single pair of hands in doing so? As a solo newborn photographic artist, along with the compliment of remaining a registered physiotherapist, I have developed easy techniques that will allow you to gently mold these tiny models into photographic artwork. With confidence and safety in mind, you will soon be able to attain those much desired shots.

First and foremost, the day will revolve around the posing of up to 4 newborn subjects, but discussions will also cover the technical aspects of attaining your shots including my preferred apertures and settings as well as a detailed assessment of naturally lighting your subject, props and setups. You will also receive my preferred vendors list for everything from prints and canvases to the right beanbag, blankets, hats & wraps and be privy to an end of the day question and answer where nothing is off limits.

The workshop will run from 9am until 5pm and will include a catered lunch and light refreshments during a one hour lunch break. The introductory workshop is limited to 6 participants (update… 02.16.2010… all spots filled… potentially one still available – please email re: the waitlist).

Workshop fees are due on booking. Refunds are available minus an administration fee of $100 up to 7 days prior to the workshop date. Spots are first come, first served and spaces are limited to professional photographers residing greater than 100km from Burlington Ontario, first come first served.

*Special note* If you are expecting in or around the first week of March, please feel free to inquire about a rewarding spot as a workshop model.

Are you planning any more workshops in the future?

Hi Stephanie

I feel privelaged to have stumbled upon your website and am absolutely in awe of the ‘true spirit’ captured in every image. I live in Johannesburg, South Africa, and was wondering if it would be possible (and how) to be privy to the information you share in your baby workshops? I would love to understand the way you so sweetly position the little angels as well as learn how you combine your natural light as well as your apetures and settings. In short…how can you teach me as I am so willing to learn? Do you have a ‘How To’ book or is there material that I can read online?

I eagerly anticipate your response.

Kind regards
Jill Hugo
