Jaxon | Northern Ontario Newborn Photographer

Oh Sweet little Baby J. I had such fun photographing this little one up north this past week. You just couldn’t ask for a better babe. It’s just torture holding back on this wee one’s images but I’m excited to see them in another form as part of an ongoing project for next year.

Crafty Baby | Burlington Newborn Posing Workshop

It was another successful weekend for the Crafty Baby Workshops. This time around we hosted 6 participant photographers from as far away as California and Atlanta as well as 7 adorable tiny newborn models ranging in age from 3 to 17 days of age. The morning started out with a blast… or two… or three… literally… from our oldest model Miss Morgan and we ended with a quick jaunt outdoors to photograph one sweet little soother loving boy in my new favorite prop and a field full of prickers. Day two was as much fun discussing all things business related as well as taking a quick trip into post processing, specifically how to achieve a great looking composite shot and tackling newborn skin tones amoung other things. But my favorite part of this weekend had to be the portfolio reviews and the chance to shower my out of country guests with a couple of treats unknown to them. I am still SHOCKED they don’t sell Smarties, Coffee Crisp, Crispy Crunch, Kinder Surprise, Five Alive, Ketchup or Dill pickle chips in the States. SERIOUSLY! Enjoy your treats ladies.

And a little bit of eye candy to go along with it…

Thank you to Jean Shifrin (Atlanta, GA), Nikki Shultz (Riverside County, California), Jamie Madigan (Ottawa, ON), Annette Boyle (Hilsdale, ON), Ashlee Butler (St. Thomas, ON) and Tracy Perry (Church Point, Nova Scotia) for attending. It was a lot of fun and a joy to bring you through part of your journey as a newborn portraitist.

Remember to sign up now for upcoming workshops as they are quickly filling up! October’s workshop is nearly full with room for 2 more photographer participants. It will also be the last workshop offered for 2010 and the last to book at the current workshop rate (please note workshop rates will increase for all 2011 workshops. These workshops will also take place in a new exciting studio location rather than the SRPD natural light studio). If you are closer to the West end of Canada, then you’re in luck as I recently announced a new partnership and venture with Jillian Kirby of Jillian Kirby Baby. The first Baby Vogue workshop taught in conjunction with Jillian will take place this November in BC. The workshop is limited to 12 participants.

Juno and her boys

Oh little June Bud. You are ever so adorable.

It was so nice to spend time with this family tonight. 3 really does seem to be the new 2 doesn’t it? I hope you enjoy your sneak peek. Many more to come in the gallery.

Not quite 5 months | Burlington Baby Photography

Oh sweetness. It was my pleasure to spend the afternoon with an adorable little not quite 5 monther. Although 6 months is a wonderful time to take pictures since babes are so expressive and are usually sitting on their own, this little swiss miss was just such a charmer! Thank you so much for choosing me to do your family photos. It’s so interesting to meet people from out of the country and a big honour to take part in capturing just who they are for family both near and far.

There is so much I love about this next image. Firstly, that it was completely spontaneous and that neither of you had any idea I was even taking it. Secondly, I see love. Love, pride, protection… everything that goes with being a mom. The look that shows just how completely lost one can get in the enjoyment of such a small little being. The one that says you would never ever turn back time. Not for the whole world now that you have her in your arms. As much as I love eye contact and smiling faces… the grandma pleasers… I love REAL that much more. The curl of her toes, the wind through your hair, the genuine concentration on her face. Everything that was true at that exact moment in time.

Baby Vogue… Strike a Pose

Speaking of workshops….

I’m excited to announce a new venture for Stephanie Robin Photography and a fantastic opportunity for those seeking to learn the art of newborn posing.

BabyVogue Stephanie Robin Photography and Jillian Kirby newborn posing workshop

Jillian Kirby Baby of Vancouver, BC and I have come together to create the Baby Vogue Workshops. As specialty newborn photographers, we have created an all-day workshop that is focused on posing and photographing newborns, ages 5-14 days old. Teachings will focus on the handling of these little subjects and attention to detail in posing as well as baby physiology, reflexes and patterns of movement.

The first workshop will be held in a natural light studio in the Greater Vancouver area, BC on November 27th, 2010. Registration is open now and spaces are limited so please do visit the site to contact us and reserve your spot!

Jillian and I are very excited about the Baby Vogue venture and the opportunity to teach photographers the art of newborn portraiture.

Not to worry.. Crafty Baby Workshops will still be available for the time being although these will be located in Burlington ON and will be taught by me alone. Baby Vogue is a new national endeavor where attendees will benefit from the advice, expertise and teachings of two of Canada’s premiere newborn photographers.  Head on over and check it out!
