Oh it’s been a long while since I posted here. Today’s post is for all you fellow photographer followers. It’s a Newborn Pants Tutorial to teach you to sew your own up-cycled newborn pants from the sweaters you already own in less than an hour!

Have lots of fun and I’ll try to post a little more often over here.

It was truly a pleasure to have been asked to write an article for The Photo Life on creating a niche in newborn photography. I’m always so honoured and a little bit surprised when approached for these types of things but absolutely love writing for these features. Feel free to check it out here!

And because I can’t stand to leave you without an image…

Many more to come shortly as I edit over 10 newborn sessions and catch up on a little blog lovin.

A Resource Gathering | Burlington Ontario Photography Gathering

A little over a year ago, I headed out to the home of Amy Montgomery, one of Burlington’s seasoned photographers, to sit and chat with photographers experienced and new in a casual format discussing anything and everything related to this business of ours. I found myself inspired. Inspired to continue to share, inspired to look for learning opportunities and inspired to keep a good thing going.

For some time I’ve been considering offering something similar. An informal gathering of seasoned pros, established photographers and those new to the profession. An opportunity to gather and share and just generally meet with others I admire and some I have yet to meet. I just never felt I had the right space to do it. Until now. Along with a new commercial studio space, I finally have the opportunity to host photographers from around the GTA in just such a gathering. And so, here it is…

I propose that we should meet.

If you are a photographer interested in sharing, developing friendships and just generally de-stressing and learning in a supportive environment, please feel free to join me for a gathering in my new studio space located just off Guelph Line in Burlington ON this coming Wednesday the 29th of August between 9am and 1pm. We’ll have time to meet, chat and also sit down and generate some thought provoking discussions on the business of childhood photography all while mowing down on delicious treats and light refreshments. You’re also welcome to bring a dish for a potluck lunch between noon and one to cap off our time together. Morning snacks and drinks are on me.

So what’s the catch? Well. There are two I suppose. Firstly, no demos. Every question is fair game so long as it doesn’t require a demo and is focused on the business of photography. Secondly, seats will be limited. While I’m all for the more the merrier mentality, I’m also interested in facilitating a supportive learning environment and the time to connect with everyone present. So… the first 20 interested will gain seats. Please feel free to leave a reply in the comments section below if you are able to attend and I will be happy to forward along the studio address and a tidbit of additional info for the day of.

I look forward to the opportunity to meet you and discuss this passion of ours together.

11 seats have already been reserved leaving space for around 9 more.

And because I can’t post without a picture…

One from a recent mentoring session I held with the lovely Rachel Glen who you’ll have the pleasure of meeting at our get together.

xo Stephanie Robin

Well that happened fast! Within a half hour of this post, all the seats have now been claimed. Please do feel free to leave your comments below if you’d still like to attend. If there is room or if one of the currently signed up photographers can’t attend for some reason, I’ll make sure to let you know. Four of the currently confirmed photogs are looking for childcare so there may still be room for a few others.

NAPCP Photographer of the Year 2011

This past year I began entering my images in image competitions for the first time. I am so honoured to say that those submissions and the subsequent placings led to a very unexpected place. Recognition by the National Association of Professional Child Photographers as Photographer of the Year 2011. The association and image competition represent photographers from around the globe including the North Americas, Australia and Europe.

One of the big highlights of the placing was having my image displayed larger than life on a digital billboard in New York’s Times Square.

You can read more about the award on the NAPCP Blog as well as check out the press released here if you feel so inclined. You can also see my shiny new “Photographer of the Year” seal now displayed on my site.

Thank you so much to the NAPCP for the recognition, exposure and for choosing me as a stand out amoungst my peers.

  • Your work is so inspiring. I’ve just applied to join the NAPCP so am keeping my fingers (and toes) crossed. I especially love the last image. The little boy looks so proud. Gorgeous lighting too.
